Back in CB

After a short stint of rigging work in Iowa I am now back in CB for a week or so, which is great! The past few days have been excellent climbing with an ice, rock, ice, rock climbing schedule it’s hard to complain. The weather could not be better, climbing perfect granite splitters in Taylor canyon one day and busting up some fun alpine rock and ice the next all under 30 minutes from my door.

Leaving beach town life...heading to hick-ville.

Okoboji, Iowa.....No I am not kidding I will be calling that home for awhile. Check it out http://www.okoboji.com/

Santa Cruz was sweet; I even was able to score some beta at the local climbing gym from the Chris Sharma on the "yellow" route (which i did not send). I would like to give a shout out to my mentor, Mammut sponsored athlete and fellow CMBG guide and now full IFMGA certified guide Steve Banks!!!! Steve passed his rock exam last week to join the elite crew of American IFMGA Guides. To be a fully certified IFMGA guide one must pass 3 exams in all 3 disciplines, Alpine, Rock, and Ski Mountaineering. This is a stressful, expensive and extremely demanding objective. You begin this process by taking the first "entry level" guides course which is over the course of 10-12 days. You follow that course by taking an advanced/aspirant exam again 10-12 days. Followed by your final exam this ranges by discipline from 6 to 12 days; now repeat this 2 more times. To be certified in just one discipline is committing and hard, but all 3 well that's why there are only 51 IFMGA guides in America. Congratulations Steve you've earned it! I am looking forward to some big days on ice again this winter.

Surfin in Santa Cruz.....

Its the off season hear in Creasted Butte which means a few things. First off no work, and no $$$. With 3 AMGA courses, my Level 3 AIARE Exam and all associated travel cost I am going to be a wee bit short of cash flow. So I took a last minuet or last second job with Rope Partners www.ropepartners.com. So yesterday I hoped on a plane in Gunnison and woke up in the beach haven of Santa Cruz, CA where the company is based out of. I will be hear till Friday or Saturday then on to Iowa to work on wind turbines. Sweet. But first I am going to learn how to surf; I mean I already have a company credit card right?

Failure

Failure: (fail, phail or flop) in general refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective. It may be viewed as the opposite of success. Product failure ranges from failure to sell the product to fracture of the product, in the worst cases leading to personal injury, the province of forensic engineering.
