The Crestones

Enjoing views like this from 12,500+ are worth the alpine start.

I had the wonderful privilege of spending a few days down in the Crestones with my good friend and fellow CMBG mountain guide Johnny MacKinnon for some alpine climbing last week. Our objectives were Crestone Needle 14,197 via the standard route and Crestone peak 14,294 via the red Couloir. Johnny and I meet Stan at the parking lot a few minutes before 6 pm and casually hiked 1.5 miles to the camping spot where we met the rest of the group tom, Tim, and Mike.

Everyone agreed that broken hand pass is best done in the dark!

Stan and Tom taking a break and enjoing the views!

On the SUMMIT!

Thanks again guys hope to see you again soon.

Only 11 years old...

As a mountain guide I work with a variety of fine folks....and sometimes not so fine. I have had the privilege of taking out individuals, families, partners, camps, ect. This past week I had the wonderful privilege of taking out local CB kid and ripping skateboarder Kia Sherman for 2 days of rock-climbing, and it was good...
Kia climbing through the wild flowers at the start of the climb.
Goofing off high up the ridge!

Over the 2 days we climbed together we were able to go up MT. Crested Butte via. Sunset Ridge and climb 6 pitches of quality granite in Taylor Canyon.

High up on MT CB with the town of Mt. Crested Butte below

Another classic. Me: "Hey Kia smile.."

Kia: "ok"

Day 1 in Taylor canyon a few pitches up the first buttress...."of course I am listening...."

Happy to be on the summit of Mt. CB via Sunset Ridge
Kia thanks for all the laughs and ‘fist-bumps’ hope to do it again soon.
You’re guide and friend.
